TRC Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior LabVIEW Engineer for a full-time opportunity with a rapidly growing controls and test systems integrator based in Cleveland, OH. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys designing complex systems, mentoring engineers, and working directly with customers on advanced R&D and test automation projects.
Overview
The LabVIEW Engineer will work directly with customers to define functional requirements and architect, design, configure, commission, and qualify sophisticated software solutions. Projects range from flexible R&D test platforms to production-adjacent test and data acquisition systems, often involving high I/O counts and evolving customer requirements.
This role requires strong independence, deep LabVIEW architecture expertise, and the ability to contribute across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead for the automation of test systems and R&D platforms
Collaborate with while gathering customer requirements and translating them into scalable, maintainable system architectures
Architect and develop complex LabVIEW applications using LVOOP and modern design patterns such as Actor Framework, DQMH, QMH, or equivalent
Modify, refactor, and enhance large existing LabVIEW codebases while ensuring long-term maintainability
Design systems that handle data acquisition, storage, configuration management, and analysis
Develop and maintain SQL databases and scripts (SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL) to support test data collection and reporting
Design electrical control panels and instrumentation wiring diagrams in support of integrated test systems
Commission and validate systems at customer sites (travel typically less than 10%)
Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and system optimization during deployment and post-installation
Train, mentor, and technically guide junior engineers, including code reviews and architectural coaching
Participate in cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing stakeholders
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal development standards, templates, and best practices
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience designing and architecting complex LabVIEW applications
Demonstrated experience using Actor Framework or equivalent LabVIEW design patterns
Ability to independently own large, complex projects from concept through deployment
Strong understanding of software architecture, data flow, and scalable system design
Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) or equivalent professional experience
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
Experience with NI Real-Time programming for embedded targets such as cRIO and PXIe
Background in test automation, R&D systems, or data acquisition–heavy applications
Experience working with or integrating robotics and vision inspection systems
Ability to collaborate with mechanical designers and provide technical input during system design
Prior experience working for a systems integrator or manufacturing automation environment
Customer-facing experience with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
