Looking to grow your accounting career with a company where you can make an impact? We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support the organization's day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, state and local tax compliance, and general accounting who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
 
What You'll Do
  • Support the accounting department by addressing a backlog of unopened mail and financial documentation.

  • Manage the company's State and Local Tax responsibilities, including corporate filings, account setup, account maintenance, and communication with taxing jurisdictions.

  • Administer the Concur expense reporting system by reviewing and approving employee expense reports.

  • Support accounting functions for the company's sister organization.

  • Manage the Avalara tax platform and related compliance processes.

  • Prepare and post journal entries as directed by the Controller.

  • Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities as needed.

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes.

  • Prepare financial reports and support the preparation of financial statements.

  • Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with special projects as assigned.

 
What We're Looking For
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred not required.

  • 5+ years of accounting experience preferred not required.

  • Experience with State and Local Tax compliance and corporate filings.

  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.

  • Experience with Concur, Avalara, or similar expense management and tax software is highly preferred.

  • Experience with journal entries, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting/ERP systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
