Mercy St. Louis Hospital is seeking Graduate and Experienced Registered Nurses interested in building a rewarding career in the Main Operating Room through our comprehensive OR Nurse Residency Program.

Who We Are

The Main Operating Room at Mercy St. Louis Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center and Burn Center, delivering high-quality surgical care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics.

  • 27 Operating Rooms
  • Seven specialty teams, including:
    • General Surgery
    • Gynecologic Surgery
    • Urologic Surgery
    • Robotic Surgery
    • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
    • Orthopedic Surgery
    • Neurosurgery
  • Four state-of-the-art surgical robots

We are committed to developing confident, well-rounded OR nurses through comprehensive training across all service lines, including instruction in both circulating and scrub roles.

Operating Room Nurse Residency Program

Designed for nurses without prior Operating Room experience, our residency program supports success through multiple learning modalities:

  • Classroom didactics
  • Online learning modules
  • Hands-on clinical practice

Program Structure:

  • Residency length: 5 months
  • Mentorship: 1 additional month
  • Following residency, nurses transition into a specialty mentorship, receiving focused training in their assigned service line.
  • Residency hours, Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm

Proposed Schedule (Days)- 30-minute call time requirement

  • Three 12-hour shifts
  • Four 10-hour shifts
  • Five 8-hour shifts

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Nursing degree from an accredited school

License:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Missouri

Certifications:

  • BLS required
