The Advanced Sonographer operates imaging equipment and software proficiently, mostly ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency and thorough understanding of operating imaging equipment and procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards. Responsibilities also include serving as lead when direct leadership is unavailable, serving as an expert resource, and assisting in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

Position Details:

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours

Experience: 2 years of relevant experience

License: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Certifications/Registries: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 3 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area and 5 years of applicable experience; Basic Life Support (BLS)

In the state of Arkansas, ARDMS certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) OR ARRT certification in Vascular Sonography (VS) is required

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage schedules, and coordinate daily operations.
  • Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Thorough understanding of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
  • Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
  • Knowledge of advanced procedures and/or invasive procedures, if applicable 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance protocols and accreditation standards.

Physical Requirements:

•    Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

•    Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.

•    Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
