Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Procedure Phase II

Status: Full-time

Shift:  1000 - 2230

NO CALL - WEEKEND ROTATION DEPENDING ON ROTATION

1 MAJOR 1 MINOR HOLIDAY

Overview:

The Ambulatory Surgery Unit, or ASU, is located on the ground floor of the main hospital adjacent to the Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). It consists of a 28- bed surgery prep unit and a 32-bed outpatient unit for pre and postoperative care for pediatric patients and adult postoperative care.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the ASU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:

  • Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person

  • Collects the patients' medical history from previous medical records

  • Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs

  • Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.

  • Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Certifications: ACLS and PALS
