The IR Special Procedures Technologist performs advanced imaging procedures, including fluoroscopy and interventional radiology, assisting in the diagnosing and treating patients. Responsibilities include operating specialized equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and providing critical support during complex medical procedures. This role also requires a strong commitment to patient care and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Position Details:

IR Special Procedure Technologist

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Interventional Radiology

Status: Full -Time - 40 hours/week

Shift: Days

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program and completion of required clinical hours or completion of RCIS training certification.

Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience  

Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Certification: AART (R) OR RCIS; Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Expert-level understanding of imaging technologies and their respective applications, protocols, and limitations.

Ability to mentor and train less experienced technologists, guiding them through procedures, ensuring adherence to protocols, and providing feedback for improvement.

Proficiency in operating imaging equipment and using imaging software to acquire high-quality diagnostic images.

Skilled in effectively communicating with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and providing emotional support.

Ability to communicate and work effectively within a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements:

•    Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

•    Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.

•    Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
