The Mammography Technologist performs mammography imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires operating mammography and other imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The Advanced Mammography Technologist must also effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Career Ladder Opportunities:

Mammography Technologist:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program and completed required clinical hours.

  • Experience: no experience required.

  • Certification: Obtained ARRT registry OR Registry eligible (Achieve registry within 6 months of eligibility); BLS within 30 days of hire.

  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Advanced Mammography Technologist:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program and completed required clinical hours.

  • Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor's degree program.

  • Certification: ARRT (R)(M); BLS Basic Life Support.

  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.



Senior Mammography Technologist:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program and completed required clinical hours.

  • Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor's degree program.

  • Certification: ARRT (R)(M) and 1 advanced registry: ARRT(BS) OR RDMS(BR); BLS Basic Life Support.

  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
