Job Purpose
The Engineer responsible for investigating market failures to determine root cause, coordinating countermeasures with the responsible areas (including testing and verification), and driving improvement activities (implementation and effectiveness monitoring) in order to accurately report to management to improve specified metrics (warranty ratio, claim rate).
Q-Theme LPL:
Activity: Lead or support complex market quality investigations of issues as a leader of a cross functional analysis team to identify root cause and countermeasures of market issues. Preparation and follow through of market treatment as required.
Control Item: Closure timing of Q theme vs closure targets
QIC Investigation
Activity: Actively support with AH-SCM departments to troubleshoot and identify root cause for market issues, then support countermeasure creation and application.
Control item: Closure timing of QIC vs closure targets
Model Market Watch
Activity: monitor the market of assigned models daily as part of the market monitoring team with a focus on providing technical perspective in order to prioritize issues. Collaborate within the market monitor team to select issues to be promoted for resolution by the Technical Analysis unit. Participate in daily quality priority meeting sharing concise summaries of priority issues that clearly illustrate the background of severity of the selected issues as needed.
Control item: Active participation in daily activity with an emphasis on providing technical support to clarify potential issues.
Technical Analysis Unit Growth
Activity: Collaborate to improve the processes and procedures for the Technical Analysis team as part of AHM QC Division. Correlate best practices and know how with unit head to implement the best approach to achieve improvement & growth.
Control item: Documented processes for analysis activity and PDCA reflections for applied improvements to increase unit efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
- Warranty parts investigation (occurrence cause, root cause, CM, effectiveness)
- Top management document and technical reports preparation and presentation
- Bi-Weekly Honda Motor Service meeting contributions
- Regional weekly QIC update meeting organization preparation and presentation
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- BS Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology in related field OR
- Demonstratable skill from experience in quality and/or product engineering
Minimum Experience
- 5+ years in manufacturing or quality related responsibility. Fundamental understanding of engineering and business concepts is expected.
- Other Job-Specific Skills
- Strong presentation skills, ability to present complex concepts simply
- Strong written and verbal communication Skills
- Mechanical aptitude, with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
- Drawing interpretation (reading, making, and understanding drawing intentions)
- GD&T Understanding
- MS Suite (5 years), Solidworks (CSWA or equivalent)
- Mechanical/Electrical aptitude to diagnose problems and assess test results
