Job Details
As a Senior Estimator with a federal focus, you will lead and manage cost estimating for complex government construction projects. You will be responsible for developing accurate, detailed federal proposals, coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and partners, and ensuring compliance with all client, agency, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of federal cost estimates for complex construction pursuits, including design-bid-build, design-build, IDIQs, and task orders.
- Analyze federal solicitations, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and amendments to develop winning strategies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to compile comprehensive and competitive cost data.
- Conduct site visits and technical reviews as needed to assess project requirements.
- Identify and quantify risk, develop risk registers, and incorporate risk mitigation into estimates.
- Prepare detailed estimate reports, buy-out strategies, estimate narratives, and pricing models.
- Maintain historical cost databases and update estimating standards and tools.
- Advise leadership on competitive positioning, pricing strategies, and value engineering opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of construction estimating experience with a strong emphasis on federal or government projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal procurement processes, cost principles, and contracting vehicles (e.g., FAR, GSA schedules, IDIQ/MSA).
- Proven ability to develop high-quality, compliant, and competitive cost proposals.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience using cost estimating software and databases.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and deliver results under deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
