Job Details
The Account Manager will be responsible for managing and growing strategic grocery retail accounts across multiple regional banners, including retailers such as Publix, Hy-Vee, Raley's, and other regional grocery chains. This individual will own customer relationships, execute joint business plans, identify growth opportunities, and partner cross-functionally to maximize sales, profitability, and brand presence.
The ideal candidate has experience managing grocery retail accounts within the food, beverage, or CPG industry and understands how to successfully grow brands in a competitive retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of regional grocery accounts, including retailers such as Publix, Hy-Vee, Raley's, and other strategic customers.
Develop and execute annual joint business plans to achieve revenue, distribution, and profitability objectives.
Build strong relationships with buyers, category managers, and key decision-makers.
Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, new item authorizations, and merchandising opportunities.
Drive distribution gains and maximize shelf placement across assigned accounts.
Analyze sales performance, syndicated data (IRI/Circana), and customer trends to identify opportunities for growth.
Forecast sales, monitor inventory levels, and collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure product availability.
Partner closely with Marketing, Trade Marketing, Finance, and Operations to execute customer initiatives.
Monitor competitive activity and marketplace trends to develop strategic recommendations.
Lead customer business reviews and present performance insights and growth strategies.
Manage promotional calendars, trade spend, and customer-specific budgets.
Travel regularly to customer meetings, headquarters, and industry events as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
4+ years of account management or sales experience within the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
Experience managing regional grocery retailers such as Publix, Hy-Vee, Raley's, H-E-B, Meijer, or similar accounts.
Strong understanding of grocery retail, category management, and syndicated data.
Experience negotiating customer agreements and managing promotional programs.
Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
Highly organized with strong project management abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel approximately 25–40%.
Preferred Experience
Experience with natural, organic, or better-for-you food and beverage brands.
Familiarity with retail analytics tools such as Circana (IRI), SPINS, or Nielsen.
Experience working in a high-growth or entrepreneurial CPG company.
