Job Details
This is a unique hybrid of service management and account management. You’ll sit onsite at a major manufacturing facility and serve as the primary point of contact between the customer and our client's service organization.
You'll directly oversee two dedicated service technicians responsible for commercial door and dock equipment while owning the administrative and customer-facing side of the relationship.
This is not primarily a hands-on technician position. You'll spend much of your time coordinating service activity, managing priorities, communicating with the customer and working with procurement. However, we're looking for someone with enough mechanical aptitude and field-service knowledge to understand the work, support the technicians and occasionally jump in when needed.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated onsite service contact for a major automotive manufacturing customer
- Directly manage and support two dedicated service technicians
- Coordinate daily service requests, preventative maintenance and repair priorities
- Manage work orders, scheduling, documentation and service follow-through
- Work closely with customer procurement and facility stakeholders
- Track open service issues and ensure work is completed accurately and on time
- Coordinate parts, materials and other resources needed by technicians
- Communicate service status, priorities and potential issues to the customer
- Build a strong working relationship with customer leadership and internal stakeholders
- Provide day-to-day coaching, direction and accountability for technicians
- Understand the mechanical work being performed and provide field support when necessary
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, responsiveness and overall customer experience
Ideal Background
- Experience in field service, industrial maintenance, facilities service or another mechanical service environment
- Previous experience supervising or leading service technicians strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude; direct door and dock experience is a plus, not a requirement
- Comfortable balancing customer/account management with service operations and administrative responsibilities
- Experience coordinating work orders, scheduling, parts, service requests and field activity
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Experience working with procurement, facilities or plant personnel is helpful
- Organized, responsive and comfortable owning issues through resolution
- Able to operate independently while embedded at a customer location
- Manufacturing facility experience is a plus

5 Questions You Should Ask During the Interview
Here are 5 questions we think you could ask during your interview. Use them as a guide to help you write your own questions.
Remember: Always have at least 5 questions prepared for the interview. If you do not, you run the risk of looking unprepared.
What does success look like in this role, and how is it measured?
Why ask this? You want to ensure you have a clear understanding of expectations before accepting the role. Knowing how success is measured helps you hit the ground running and avoid surprises about performance evaluations. It also signals to the employer that you're results-driven.
Can you describe the team dynamic and the company culture?
Why ask this? Skills and experience matter, but if the work environment isn’t a good fit, you won’t be happy or productive. This question helps you gauge whether the company values collaboration, how teams interact, and whether the culture aligns with your work style and values.
What are the biggest challenges facing the person in this role right now?
Why ask this? Every job has challenges, and it’s better to know them upfront. This helps you assess whether the role is a good fit for your strengths and whether the company is realistic about its expectations. If they hesitate to answer, it could be a red flag.
How does the company support work-life balance and employee well-being??
Why ask this? Burnout is real, and some companies expect employees to sacrifice personal time for the job. By asking this, you’ll get a sense of how they value work-life balance, flexibility, and well-being—things that are crucial for job satisfaction and long-term success.
These questions help you make an informed decision while also showing your professionalism and strategic thinking!
