VP Of Communications
Quick Apply
We're looking for a VP of Communications to lead how Jane shows up in the world. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing Jane's communications strategy across media, brand narrative, internal communications, and thought leadership. You'll be a key voice in how we tell our story — to practitioners, to the press, to partners, and to the team.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and storytelling. You'll work closely with our executive team, product, and marketing to ensure Jane's voice is clear, consistent, and compelling across every channel and audience.
What You'll Be Getting Up To
- Own and drive Jane's overall communications strategy, including PR, media relations, executive communications, and brand narrative
- Build and manage relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across health tech, small business, and allied health verticals
- Lead internal communications to keep our team aligned, informed, and connected to our mission as we grow
- Develop and refine Jane's thought leadership platform — identifying the right voices, moments, and channels to amplify our perspective
- Partner with the executive team on high-stakes communications including announcements, crises, and key milestones
- Oversee and mentor a growing communications team, setting standards for quality, speed, and strategic impact
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, and People teams to ensure messaging is consistent and on-brand
- Manage external agency and PR partner relationships
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications programs, using data to inform decisions
What You'll Need To Excel
- 10+ years of communications experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
- Proven track record of building and executing communications strategies that drive meaningful brand awareness and trust
- Strong media relationships and experience securing impactful coverage
- Exceptional writing and editing skills — you can craft a press release, an all-hands message, and an op-ed with equal ease
- Experience in healthcare, health tech, or SaaS is a strong asset
- Ability to operate at both the strategic and executional level — you're as comfortable setting the vision as you are rolling up your sleeves
- A collaborative, low-ego approach with strong stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading and growing teams
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and fast-moving environments

Apply Here5 Questions You Should Ask During the Interview
Here are 5 questions we think you could ask during your interview. Use them as a guide to help you write your own questions.
Remember: Always have at least 5 questions prepared for the interview. If you do not, you run the risk of looking unprepared.
What does success look like in this role, and how is it measured?
Why ask this? You want to ensure you have a clear understanding of expectations before accepting the role. Knowing how success is measured helps you hit the ground running and avoid surprises about performance evaluations. It also signals to the employer that you're results-driven.
Can you describe the team dynamic and the company culture?
Why ask this? Skills and experience matter, but if the work environment isn’t a good fit, you won’t be happy or productive. This question helps you gauge whether the company values collaboration, how teams interact, and whether the culture aligns with your work style and values.
What are the biggest challenges facing the person in this role right now?
Why ask this? Every job has challenges, and it’s better to know them upfront. This helps you assess whether the role is a good fit for your strengths and whether the company is realistic about its expectations. If they hesitate to answer, it could be a red flag.
How does the company support work-life balance and employee well-being??
Why ask this? Burnout is real, and some companies expect employees to sacrifice personal time for the job. By asking this, you’ll get a sense of how they value work-life balance, flexibility, and well-being—things that are crucial for job satisfaction and long-term success.
These questions help you make an informed decision while also showing your professionalism and strategic thinking!
